Wheat Grass Powder from Holland and Barrett

A couple of months ago I tried a shot of wheatgrass at one of them fresh juice bars in Notting Hill. There was all this hype about how it is so good for you but tastes awful.  The one main component of wheatgrass is chlorophyll.  Chlrophyll is supposed to remove toxic chemicals from the bloodstream which would ideally cleanse your body.  It is also suggested that it helps with weight loss and preventing cancer.

I finally plucked up the courage to give it a try. I had a conversation about the taste of it with guy who worked there and he said something like 'yeah it is just like you drinking a shot' errrrrrm ok, does the fact that I wear a hijab make you think that I go out drinking??  Anyhoo, I think he was having a 'doh' moment as even the his co-workers were laughing at him but he just looked confused. :-O
It didn't taste too bad, I actually enjoyed it...not the side effects though.  I headed off to Stratford Westfield and felt so sick, like I wanted to throw up the whole time and I grabbed myself a cold drink as quick as I could to make me feel better.  It didn't help so I went home.  One thing that tiny shot did was clean out my insides.  I didn't throw up...but you get my drift? Awkward!  I felt slightly energetic after which is very for me.

Anyway even after all that I bought a packet of wheatgrass powder from Holland and Barrett.  I thought it has all these positive things so why not? I paid £7.99 for 200g. (http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=3741&prodid=4329&cid=256) This stuff is nasty and it's always the nasty stuff that is good for you too! why oh why does it have to be like this?  Brussel Sprouts. Good for you. Tastes like poop.  Fried chicken and chips.  Bad for you.  Tastes sooooo good!  So, anyway, I've been having a couple of tea spoons of this powder every day by mixing it in my drinks and adding it to smoothies.   I'm not sure if it helps with weight loss as I didn't buy it for this but I have managed to maintain the same weight. It didn't give me any side effects like a mad run to the toilet. I also noticed that my eyes become really white and they never normally have been before,  even if I only got a wink of sleep the wheatgrass powder managed to keep my eyes white and bright.  The pack has lasted me a long time too and I still have quite a bit left.  You only need a tiny amount so a little goes a very long way.

Would I purchase again? Yes I would because of the way it makes my eyes sparkle and because it lasts a very long time.  I don't like the taste of it but I can easily make it work by mixing it with my favourite smoothies and drinks.

One of the things you must always remember is that not all products work the same for everyone so buy and try. If it works then great but if doesn't then...oh well!  Another thing to remember is that don't expect something to work overnight, I mean some things do but most things take time and patience.

Hope you liked this post and let me know if you do give the wheatgrass a go! x
